School Resources for the Struggling Student
We all want our children to sail along in school and never have any worries. We want strong test scores and excellent report cards. We want our kids to have lots of friends and never want them to feel left out.
In reality, not every child will go through school without experiencing some kind of academic struggle or social anxiety. No child is perfect and when your child is the one struggling, you need to know what resources the school has in place to help him or her.
This week host Christina Lemmey gives an overview of the various resources the public elementary schools offer for children who are having a rough time. These resources vary by school district and private schools may not provide the same types of resources as the public schools. Even though we do not want to think about our children struggling, be prepared with some phone numbers just in case and do not be afraid to ask questions of your principal or school board if you think the resources in your school are lacking.
*This episode does not touch upon Special Education programs. I hope to discuss that topic in another show.*
